Construction worker rescued after falling into hole

EAST HARLEM, Manhattan (WABC) -- There was a close call at a construction site for the Second Avenue subway on Wednesday morning when a worker fell down a hole.

It happened at a site at 2085 Second Ave. in East Harlem before 9:30 a.m.

The worker fell eight feet down into mud.

A group of other construction workers and firefighters tried to figure out how to get the worker out.

Fortunately they saved the worker who was taken to the hospital and was said to be stable.

The MTA issued a safety standdown for the rest of the day, which is standard.
